DACONO, Colo. – Cassidy Hinds kicked off the track points season at her home track, Colorado National Speedway, with an eighth-place finish in her No. 3c super late model on Saturday.

After several strong runs in Arizona at Tucson Speedway during the spring, Hinds returned to the Centennial State’s three-eighths-mile paved oval in hopes of continuing her recent momentum.

She qualified seventh in the Bella Flooring America Super Late Model class and repeated that level of performance in the preliminary fast-dash, but come feature time Hinds battled a tight condition throughout.

The 40-lapper saw Hinds start seventh and battle with veterans Rudy Vanderwal and Brett Yackey for most of the race. She eventually finished eighth in an event where Michael Scott took the checkers.

“We just struggled with the car being tight all day long,” Hinds explained. “We really thought that we had some good speed for the feature, but the new ST1 and ST2 Hoosier tire compounds have thrown us for a bit of a loop setup-wise and we haven’t been able to get the No. 3c loosened up as much as we need to just yet.

“We’re taking the car back to look through it this week and do some work to get it better for Memorial Day weekend,” she added. “We definitely wish that we’d had a better season opener, but we know it’s just a bit of a slump and we’ll be faster and better than ever soon.”

Hinds’ racing efforts are made possible by marketing partners Frontier Restoration, Leary’s Shock Shop, Fort Worth Screen Printing, Commit 2 Fitness, Pineapple Pump Project, MATCO Tools, Puzzle Effects, Buckeye Welding, 5280 Pit Lighting, and Friends of Jaclyn Foundation.

The next race on Hinds’ schedule is slated for May 26, back at Colorado National Speedway.
